Tenuta Deangelis 2011 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

With the kickoff of the NFL and NCAA football seasons, pizza seems to be making a regular appearance in our household.  Over the weekend, we made a mushroom and 3 cheese pizza and paired it with a bottle of Tenuta Deangelis 2011 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.   I picked it up at Domaine LA for a mere $11 and it was simple yet really enjoyable for the price point!

Tasting Notes

This ruby colored wine has aromas of black currents, forest floor, and black cherries.  The earthy notes continue on the palate along with flavors of plums and dark cherries.  Soft tannins, straight-forward flavors, and great with simple Italian fare!

My Wine Rating – B+

Food Pairing Suggestions – Pair with mushroom pizza, pasta with marinara, or grilled sirloin.
