I am a sucker for Rhône wines and came across a great find last week. Domaine Monpertuis is a winery in Chateauneuf-du-Pape that has been run by the Juene family for six generations. Their 2010 “Vignoble de la Ramière” Côtes du Rhône is organically farmed, unfiltered, and a great value.
Predominantly Grenache with a touch of Syrah, this Rhône has aromas of cherry, herbs and earth. A nicely structured palate shows tastes of black cherry, blackberry, spice and herbs followed with a juicy finish. A sophisticated wine for the price! It pairs nicely with pork or salmon. (13.5% alcohol, $14)
