I have been tasting my way through a few wines from the Dry Creek Valley AVA in Sonoma County. Dry Creek Valley produces some incredible wines and many of the winemakers are leading the way in sustainable winemaking practices. One of the wines I really enjoyed was West Wines 2009 Viognier. West Wines is a family owned winery that practices responsible agriculture.
About the Wine- From the Winery
West 2009 Viognier is 100% Viognier from Sonoma County. It has 13.5% alcohol and retails for $23. Only 250 cases were produced. For more information visit www.westwines.com.
Now the Fun Part- Tasting the Wine
West Viognier pours a pale gold in the glass. Aromas of flowers and tropical fruit dominate the nose. The palate is refreshing with tastes of mango, lemon, and pineapple that lead into a long finish with lingering notes of citrus. A tropical oasis for your taste buds!
My Wine Rating- B+
Food Pairings Suggestions- Pair this Viognier with sushi, sea bass, or an avocado and mango salad
