In rounding out my Domaine Degher tasting, I uncorked a bottle of their 2006 Mojo. Mojo is a blend of 51% Syrah and 49% Cabernet that hails from their Paso Robles vineyards. Mojo is distinctively different from the style and taste of the other two Domaine Degher wines I have tried.
Mojo’s nose is musty with notes of plum, leather, and oak. The palate is earthy with flavors of blackberry, cassis, leather, and a hint of olive. I recommend giving Mojo a little while in the decanter to open up before sipping. An interesting Paso blend perfect with steaks, rack of lamb, or pork chops. (B, $42, media sample)
