A Wine With a Peppery Personality- Quivira 2008 Zinfandel

Finally, the NFL is back on and we get back to the normal fall routine of our household…football, grilling, and good wine.  We started off this weekend with a bottle of Quivira 2008 Zinfandel.  This wine definitely has some bold, spicy flavors.  It’s truly what a Zinfandel should be.

About the Wine- From the Winery

Quivira 2008 Zinfandel is 95% Zinfandel and 5% Syrah from Sonoma County.  It has 14.8% alcohol and retails for $20.  For more information see www.quivirawine.com

Now the Fun Part- Tasting the Wine

Quivira Zinfandel pours a deep ruby in the glass.  It has a rich, fragrant nose filled with dark berries, sweet tobacco, and spice.  On the palate are tastes of juicy dark cherries, blackberries, and black pepper.  The finish is unforgettable…spicy, bold, and seemingly endless.  I really enjoyed this wine because it tastes exactly how a Zinfandel should taste…a big wine with a peppery personality.

My Wine Rating- A-

Food Pairing Suggestions- This wine is a great match for grilled red meat, pizza topped with sausage, or a lamb curry.
