I must admit, I drink a lot of wine. I also must admit that I don’t drink a lot of Chardonnay. I do like it, but often when I am ordering a glass or buying a bottle, I am overwhelmed by the urge to buy a Pinot from Oregon, an Argentinian Malbec, or maybe even a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc…but I somehow miss the mark when it comes to picking out a great Chardonnay. I wasn’t going to let that mistake happen today when I visited one of my favorite wine shops so I reached for a bottle of Landmark Overlook Chardonnay.
Landmark Overlook 2009 Chardonnay is from the Sonoma Valley and is 100% Chardonnay. It has 14.5% alcohol and retails for $28 (although it can be found for around $22). For more information see www.Landmarkwine.com
Now the Fun Part- Tasting the Wine
Landmark Overlook Chardonnay pours a golden color in the glass. It has a nose that draws you in with aromas of lime, orange, green apple, and oak. This rich Chardonnay has abundant flavors of pineapple, lime, and mango that mingle in your mouth with a touch of honey. The wine has a wonderful dry finish with subtle notes of oak. My title may be a little cheesy but I am really serious when I say that this wine shouldn’t be overlooked. Go out, grab a bottle, and enjoy! I heard the 2007 and 2008 vintages are pretty outstanding as well so you can’t go wrong.
