A Tasty Oregon Pinot Noir- Soléna 2009 Grand Cuvée Pinot Noir

Last weekend I dined at one of my favorite spots in South Orange County, Nick’s Laguna Beach.  Nick’s is a wonderful restaurant on the Pacific Coast Highway in the middle of downtown Laguna with delicious food.  Some of my favorites include the fried deviled eggs, ahi tartare, blackened halibut sandwich, and pan roasted salmon.  They also have a small but wisely selected wine list.  For our dinner we split a bottle of Soléna 2009 Grand Cuvée Pinot Noir from Oregon.

About the Wine- From the Winery

Soléna 2009 Grand Cuvée Pinot Noir is from the Willamette Valley in Oregon.  It has 13.9% alcohol and retails for $25.  For more information see www.Solenaestate.com

Now the Fun Part- Tasting the Wine

The Soléna has beautiful aromas of cranberry, blackberry, vanilla, and spice.  The wine tastes of dark cherry, plum, and cranberry with layers of vanilla and pepper woven in between.  This Pinot Noir is luxurious and smooth with long, dry finish.  It’s the type of wine that makes you wanna take another sip to see what other flavors you can unmask.  A great Pinot Noir by Soléna…grab a bottle and enjoy!

My Wine Rating- A-

*Wine Pairing Note- This wine would pair well with pan roasted salmon or roasted duck.
