A Bottle Worth the Wait- Jordan 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon

Back in 2003, I didn’t know much about wine other than the fact I liked to drink it and was just a couple of years past old enough to do so.  Somehow, I was wise enough to get my hands on a bottle of 1999 Jordan Cabernet that was just released.  It was so expensive to me at the time that I kept waiting and waiting to drink it.  I had waited so long that I actually learned enough about wine to figure out the bottle was going to get better after a few years in the cellar.  Fast forward to 2011 and we have the perfect year to drink it (as confirmed by Jordan Winery).

About the Wine- From the Winery

The Jordan 1999 Cabernet is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County.   It was aged for 4 years and has 12.8% alcohol.  For more info see www.JordanWinery.com

Now the Fun Part- Tasting the Wine

Jordan 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon

The Jordan pours a deep, dark purplish black.  The wine has an intoxicating nose of sweet, ripe berries.  I wanted to dive into the wine to soak it all in.  The wine tastes of dark cherries, cassis, vanilla, and a hint of cedar.  The tannins are round and the wine has a rich, smooth finish.    The Jordan 1999 Cabernet is elegant, refined, and makes you feel the same as you drink it.  A great bottle well worth the wait!
